Diamond Kote siding replacement on a blue home with dark roof in mid-Michigan

Most Diamond Kote calls start with fade. The vinyl that was supposed to be maintenance-free has gone patchy and chalked. The painted wood wall wants its third repaint in fifteen years. The hardboard has been drinking water at every seam since the nineties. If you’re going to tear a wall off and start over, it’s worth asking why the next wall should ever put you back in this position.

Diamond Kote replacement is our answer to that question: a full tear-off, the sheathing inspected and repaired while it’s exposed, a fresh moisture barrier and flashing package, and then prefinished LP SmartSide hung to LP’s manual by a certified crew. Engineered wood strength, factory-cured color with a thirty-year no-fade warranty, and no paint crew in your future.

We run these replacements across Lansing, East Lansing, Okemos, St. Johns, Grand Ledge, Owosso, and our whole nine-county area. Licensed, insured, never subcontracted, and honest at the free look: if your existing wall has real years left, we’ll say so and leave the quote for when you actually need it.

Replace the wall once, and the color question forever.

A replacement is the one moment you get to rethink everything about the wall: the material, the color, and whether you ever want to deal with either again. Going prefinished at replacement time is the efficient version of that decision, because the premium buys out every future paint cycle in one move.

The color choice deserves real care since you’re making it once for thirty years. We bring the Diamond Kote palette to your actual house and look at it against the brick, the roof, and the light your street actually gets. Deep navies and greens that would be risky as field paint are safe choices here, because the factory cure is what holds them.

You’re not just replacing siding. You’re retiring a chore your house has been billing you for years.

The build week itself runs like every serious re-side we do: tear-off as inspection, photographed repairs, barrier and flashing rebuilt, then finish-safe handling while the prefinished boards go up in planned, calm layouts with sealed cuts and spec fastening.

When the crew leaves, you have a warranted wall, completed paperwork, labeled touch-up materials, and one less recurring project in your life. That last part is the actual product.

The last re-side this wall should need for decades.

Done the honest way.

i.

The fade problem, solved

Thirty warranted years of color instead of another slow slide back to chalk and patchiness.

ii.

The wall underneath, fixed

Tear-off exposes and fixes what the old siding was hiding, while it’s cheap to fix.

iii.

One crew, one week

Quoted, torn off, rebuilt, and finished by the same certified crew, on a schedule we own.

Is your old wall ready for this? An honest checklist.

Fade alone doesn’t force a replacement; fade plus failure does. Brittle vinyl cracking at every impact, hardboard swelling at seams, wood demanding paint faster than you can schedule it, or repairs that stopped blending years ago: those walls are done, and money spent patching them is money the next wall doesn’t get.

Uneven fade tells its own story. When walls facing the sun have gone two shades lighter than the rest of the house, every future repair becomes visible by definition, since no replacement panel matches a color that no longer exists anywhere.

If a storm accelerated the decline, get the documentation before making decisions. A hail- or wind-marked exposure can shift real scope onto an insurance claim, and that changes the replacement math substantially. We photograph honestly, without inflation, in the format adjusters need.

And if your wall isn’t ready, that’s the answer you’ll get. A third of our replacement conversations end in wait. When the time does come, the free siding look, the samples, and the written price will be here.

Diamond Kote replacements across mid-Michigan.

The replacement stories repeat across our nine counties: sun-faded vinyl in the Lansing subdivisions, chalked field paint on the farm houses past St. Johns, hardboard around Okemos and DeWitt that has swelled its last spring. Different walls, same conclusion, and prefinished engineered wood is the version of starting over that doesn’t restart the clock on fade.

Mid-Michigan light is exactly what the no-fade warranty is for. South and west exposures here two-tone a painted wall inside a decade, which is why so many of our replacements begin with a homeowner pointing at the sunny side of their own house.

Wherever you are on our map, it starts with the free siding look: an honest verdict on whether the old wall is really done, samples against your brick in your own daylight, and a firm written price for the wall you won’t have to think about again.

Straight answers about Diamond Kote replacement.

No hedging. Here’s the plain version of what homeowners ask us most, and you can see finished work in our gallery.

How long does a Diamond Kote replacement take?

About a week for most homes, tear-off through cleanup, driven by house size and what the sheathing inspection finds. Prefinished handling is discipline, not delay. You’ll have a real schedule in writing and our own crew keeping it.

Is prefinished worth it when replacing old vinyl?

Often, yes. Vinyl owners usually replace because of fade and brittleness, and Diamond Kote answers both permanently: engineered wood impact strength plus a thirty-year no-fade finish. It costs more than new vinyl and deletes the reasons you’re standing in this decision. We price both honestly.

What if my sheathing is damaged under the old siding?

Common, fixable, and cheapest to handle exactly now. We photograph what we find, price repairs transparently, and fix the wood before the new barrier and boards go on. Nothing gets covered until you’ve seen it.

Can I pick a dark color without worrying about fading?

That’s one of Diamond Kote’s best tricks. Factory-cured darks hold in a way field-painted darks never have, and the thirty-year no-fade warranty applies across the palette. Navy, forest, and near-black walls that would chalk as paint stay rich as prefinished.

What warranties come with the finished wall?

Three layers: thirty-year no-fade on the finish, LP’s five-year full labor and materials coverage, and the fifty-year prorated substrate warranty, all sitting on a certified install done to the manual. We complete the paperwork with you before we leave.

Do you replace siding on just one or two walls?

We do partial replacements where they make sense, like a sun-beaten south wall or storm-damaged exposure. The honest caveat is matching against your remaining old siding, and we’ll tell you plainly how that will read before you commit.

What does a Diamond Kote replacement cost?

It depends on your home’s size, the condition under the old siding, and the trim package, so we don’t guess from the road. The free siding look gets you a firm written number, both for Diamond Kote and for the primed-and-painted path, side by side.

Can you replace my siding in stages, a wall or two per year?

We can, and prefinished is the rare material where staging works well, because your color line stays in production and next year’s walls will genuinely match this year’s. We’ll sequence the exposures so the sun-beaten sides go first and the seams between phases land out of sight.

Other things we do.
