Diamond Kote siding repair on a modern blue mid-Michigan home

The whole promise of a Diamond Kote wall is that it matches itself: one color, factory-cured, corner to corner, for thirty warranted years. So when a limb, a hailstone, or a delivery truck leaves a mark, the repair has one job above all others: keep that promise. A prefinished wall repaired with a paint brush stops being a prefinished wall.

Our Diamond Kote repair work does it the factory way. Scuffs and small dings get the color line’s own touch-up system. Boards damaged past touch-up get cut out and replaced with factory-matched boards from your color, cuts sealed, edges touched with the factory kit, fastening set to LP’s spec. The repair disappears because everything on the wall still comes from the same system.

We repair Diamond Kote across Lansing, East Lansing, Okemos, St. Johns, Grand Ledge, Owosso, and the rest of our nine counties, on walls we installed and walls we didn’t. Licensed, insured, LP-certified, and honest about the line between a touch-up, a board swap, and damage worth a claim.

Why prefinished walls have the best repair story in siding.

Repairing field-painted siding always ends in a compromise: new paint against weathered paint, sheen against chalk, and a blend line somebody hopes you won’t find. Diamond Kote skips that whole problem. The color line keeps producing your color, cured the same way your wall was, so the replacement board actually is the same finish, not an imitation of it.

That only holds if the repair respects the system. Boards have to come out without bruising their neighbors, replacements go in with sealed cuts and spec fastening, and the touch-up on edges comes from the factory kit, not a rattle can in a close-enough shade.

Paint on a prefinished wall is a permanent apology. A matched board is a repair.

It’s careful work more than heavy work, which keeps most Diamond Kote repairs small and quick. One board out, one board in, edges treated, done. The wall goes back to matching itself and the warranties stay clean.

What we won’t do is let a painter near a prefinished wall. Field paint on Diamond Kote reads wrong the day it dries and worse every year after, and it hands away the exact thing the wall was bought for.

The damaged board comes out. A factory-matched one goes in.

Done the honest way.

i.

The factory way

Touch-up kits and matched boards from your color line, so the repair is the same finish, not a lookalike.

ii.

Small stays small

Certified technique takes one board out without disturbing ten. Most repairs are done fast and priced accordingly.

iii.

Warranties intact

Repairs to LP’s manual keep the no-fade, labor, and substrate warranties all standing. Improvisation is what breaks them.

Touch-up, swap, or claim? Reading the damage honestly.

Scuffs and shallow marks that haven’t opened the finish are touch-up work with the factory kit, and done right they disappear. This is the cheapest visit we make, and if that’s all your wall needs, that’s all we’ll quote.

Anything that has broken through the finish into the board face or edge is a swap. Once the engineered wood under the finish is opened, water has a path, and the correct fix is a factory-matched board with sealed cuts, not filler under touch-up. The match quality is excellent because your color line is still in production.

Storm damage deserves documentation before repair. Hail rarely defeats SmartSide’s impact resistance, but severe storms and wind-driven debris can, and when a whole exposure has taken strikes the honest scope may be an insurance conversation rather than a board or two. We photograph it the way adjusters need and tell you which situation you’re actually in.

And if your damage traces to the original install rather than the weather, we’ll say that too, with photos, and help you sort what belongs on the installer instead of your wallet.

Diamond Kote repairs across mid-Michigan.

As prefinished walls have spread through the newer builds around DeWitt, Grand Ledge, and Okemos and the re-sides everywhere else, we’ve become the area’s repair stop for them. Most calls are small: a limb from a storm-heavy summer, a mower stone, a trailer that clipped a corner board.

The local advantage is stock and system. We install Diamond Kote weekly, so matched boards in the area’s common colors move quickly, and the factory touch-up kits ride in the truck. Small repairs stay same-week small when nobody is waiting on a paint match that doesn’t exist.

From Lansing out to Ionia and Howell, the process holds: free look, honest touch-up-or-swap call, written price, and a wall that goes back to matching itself.

Straight answers about Diamond Kote repair.

No hedging. Here’s the plain version of what homeowners ask us most, and you can see finished work in our gallery.

Can a damaged Diamond Kote board be matched?

Yes, genuinely. The color line stays in production, so replacement boards come factory-finished in your exact color, cured the same way as your wall. Matched boards plus factory edge touch-up is why prefinished repairs disappear in a way painted repairs never quite do.

Can I just paint over a scratch?

Please don’t. Field paint on a factory finish reads wrong immediately, ages differently every year after, and can complicate the no-fade warranty on that section. The factory touch-up system exists for exactly this and costs little to have done right.

Does hail damage Diamond Kote siding?

Not often. The SmartSide substrate is one of the most impact-resistant sidings made, and most hail events leave it unmarked. Severe stones can still gouge it, so after a big storm the free look is worth ten minutes, and we’ll document honestly whatever we find.

Will a repair affect my 30-year no-fade warranty?

A repair done the factory way keeps it clean: matched boards, sealed cuts, factory touch-up, spec fastening. That’s how we work, and we document what was done so your paperwork stays straight.

Do you repair Diamond Kote installed by someone else?

Yes, regularly. We’ll fix the damage regardless of who hung the wall, and if we find install shortcuts while we’re in there, unsealed cuts and tight joints being the usual suspects, you’ll get photos and a straight explanation of what they mean.

How much does a Diamond Kote repair cost?

Touch-up visits are small money, single-board swaps are modest, and we put the number in writing after a free look before anything is committed. What keeps prefinished repairs affordable is that the matching problem is already solved by the factory.

How soon should damage be repaired?

Anything that opened the board face or edge should be sealed or swapped before it takes on much water, ideally within the season. Pure finish scuffs can wait for a convenient day. We’ll tell you honestly which clock you’re on.

Another contractor says my prefinished wall needs repainting. Is that right?

Get the free second look first. Painting a Diamond Kote wall surrenders its no-fade warranty and its whole reason for existing, and it’s almost never the correct fix. Damaged sections get matched boards and factory touch-up instead. If a wall has genuinely been compromised wall-wide, we’ll show you photos and explain the real options.
